On Thursday, September 24, 2026, the parade ground of the 34th Military Engineering Regiment hosted a donation ceremony organized as part of the 10th edition of Kafo Jiginew’s solidarity initiative. This edition was dedicated to the memory of the late Army General Sadio Camara.
Launched by Kafo Jiginew in partnership with the Armed Forces Social Services, this solidarity initiative aims to provide support to the children and families of soldiers who have fallen in the line of duty, particularly as the new school year approaches.
The ceremony was presided over by the Director of Armed Forces Social Services, Colonel-Major Bréhima Samaké. It brought together various military and civilian officials, as well as the beneficiary families who came to receive the aid. The donation consisted of 5 tons of rice, 1,000 backpacks, 6,000 notebooks, and 300 T-shirts.
Speaking at the event, Kafo Jiginew’s Director General, Mr. Ibrahima Keita, noted that this contribution came from the microfinance institution’s staff and elected representatives. He highlighted that, despite a challenging financial climate, Kafo Jiginew was determined to uphold this commitment, believing that "solidarity does not wait for perfect conditions."
According to him, this initiative reflects Kafo Jiginew’s desire to reaffirm its support for the Malian Armed Forces and to fully embrace its role as a socially responsible enterprise. It also aligns with a broader spirit of national solidarity toward the families of fallen soldiers, while helping to strengthen the institution’s own patriotic and civic commitment. "Let every child here know that their parent’s sacrifice is etched in the country’s history. Let every family know that Kafo Jiginew, as a socially responsible institution, stands by your side," he declared.
For his part, the Director of the Armed Forces Social Service, Colonel-Major Bréhima Samaké, expressed his gratitude to Kafo Jiginew for this gesture of solidarity, which reinforces the social initiatives undertaken to support bereaved families.
He highlighted the importance of the partnership between institutions and the various stakeholders committed to national solidarity. "No donation, however significant, can erase the pain of loss. Yet, these gestures of solidarity hold immense symbolic and human value. They simply say: we have not forgotten you," he stated.
Colonel-Major Bréhima Samaké also emphasized that such initiatives reflect the national community's commitment to standing with the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country's defense and security. He encouraged the recipients to view these donations not merely as material support, but as a testament to solidarity, gratitude, and brotherhood.
Through this 10th edition, Kafo Jiginew and the Armed Forces Social Service reaffirm their commitment to the families of soldiers who fell in the line of duty.
Beyond the provision of school supplies and food, this initiative conveys a message of solidarity, gratitude, and steadfast support to families grieving the loss of a loved one who died in the service of the nation.
The ceremony concluded with the official presentation of donations to the recipients, followed by a group photo.
