On Friday, August 28, 2026, elements of the Sabouciré Combined Arms Tactical Group (GTIA) conducted a foot patrol in several neighborhoods of Kayes, including Bencouda, Lafiabougou, and Dougouba.
Conducted in accordance with military command directives, this operation aimed to strengthen the presence of the Defense and Security Forces (FAMa) closer to the population, gather information from the field, and consolidate the bond of trust between the FAMa and the local population.
According to the Commander of the Sabouciré GTIA, Colonel Moussa Yoro Diallo, this field visit served three main objectives.
The first was to gather feedback from the population on the operational actions carried out by the FAMa. This approach allowed the soldiers to better understand the residents' concerns and assess their perception of the operations conducted in the region.
The second objective focused on the operational training of the troops. The foot patrol notably helped to strengthen the men's physical and intellectual abilities through the implementation of navigation techniques and the use of communication equipment.
Finally, this foot patrol aimed to allow the elements of the Sabouciré Combined Arms Task Force (GTIA Sabouciré) to break out of their operational routine. Since its creation, the group has primarily conducted close patrol, offensive reconnaissance, and escort missions, generally carried out in vehicles and on motorcycles in Sector 7 of Operation Dogoukoloko.
For the GTIA Sabouciré Command, the three objectives set were achieved. Colonel Diallo expressed his satisfaction with the smooth execution of the patrol, which concluded without incident.
He also thanked the Command for its continued support and congratulated his men for their commitment and determination in carrying out their assigned missions. Through this foot patrol, the Sabouciré Combined Arms Task Force (GTIA Sabouciré) reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a local military presence in Kayes, while simultaneously developing the endurance, adaptability, and operational responsiveness of its personnel.
