The General Staff of the Armed Forces informs the public that this Monday, April 24, 2023, the Fama intervened in the Dourou sector, 25 km from the locality of Bandiagara following a terrorist attack alert.
Combining air and ground means, the Fama initially targeted around twenty terrorists leading cattle stolen from the population of Dourou.
A terrorist position of about thirty (30) motorcycles scattered and about ten (10) terrorists hidden in a small forest were treated and destroyed, as well as about ten terrorists trying to escape.29 neutralized terrorists were counted following the airstrikes.
In a second place, the terrorists who survived the strikes fleeing were taken in pincers by the ground units engaged for the exploitation of the strikes with:
- the neutralization of 08 terrorists,
- the recovery of 22 recovered motorcycles,
- several weapons and ammunition recovered,
- miscellaneous communication equipment recovered.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces welcomes the promptness of the provision of information by the populations which has enabled the effectiveness of the reaction of the Fama against these terrorists, perpetrators of the atrocities against the populations in the Bandiagara region, along the road Sevaré, Bandiagara, Bankass and the poses of improvised explosive devices on Route Nationale 16.In addition, on April 24, 2023, the FAMa carried out an offensive reconnaissance on a terrorist objective located 12km south-east of Boni, neutralizing three (03) terrorists # a destroyed motorcycle # one (01) walkie-talkie and miscellaneous items recovered.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces once again confirms the use by the terrorists of child soldiers in the day's fighting.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces calls on the populations to be vigilant and to mobilize against terrorists who lack combatants and engage in the employment of innocent children.
