The General Staff of the Armed Forces informs the public that in the context of securing and reassuring the populations, the Fama carried out an offensive reconnaissance in several sectors of the Menaka region.
A major action carried out on April 23, 2023 on information in the Tin-fadimata sector located 27 km north-west of Ménaka allowed the following assessment:
- Twelve (12) terrorists arrested,
- Materials seized: One (01) PKM machine gun, two (02) Ak47, one (01) shotgun, twenty-four (24) Ak47 magazines, PKM links, several bulk ammunition, five (05) grenades, two (02) Iridium brand satellite phones with two (02) chargers, several military uniforms and rangers and other miscellaneous items.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces specifies that the security situation in all the recognized sectors including Tebesselamane, In-Agar, Chimam and Tin-fadimata remains calm.Furthermore, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reassures the populations of the professionalism of the Fama and asks for their continued support in identifying and arresting terrorists and their accomplices, the only viable option for lasting security.
In order to avoid any confusion that could lead to tensions on the ground, in accordance with the directives of the political authorities of the Transition, and in the spirit of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation resulting from the Algiers Process (APR), the General Staff of the Armies invites the signatory movements to coordinate their movements with the Fama. It is important that all parties with a constructive spirit accept this principle, because the security of the Malian populations remains our priority.
