Although the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) faced numerous attacks last September, they will continue to fight against the enemy on the ground in order to better secure the population and ensure the integrity of Malian territory.
With a view to informing the population on the evolution of the security situation on the ground, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (DIRPA) held, on Monday October 2, 2023 in its premises, its traditional monthly press conference. Colonel-Major Souleymane DEMBELE, first person in charge of the structure, moderated the meeting.
In his presentation, the Director of DIRPA, Colonel-Major Souleymane DEMBELE, affirmed that despite the numerous attacks facing the Defense and Security Forces, they will continue to fight against the enemy on the ground with the objective to secure the population and ensure the integrity of the Malian territory.
According to him, the month of September was too eventful with the terrorist attacks which targeted the FAMa and the civilian populations. Among these barbarities, we note the attack on the boat “Timbuktu” on September 7, causing the death of 65 civilians and soldiers; the attack of 03 kamikaze vehicles followed by an infiltration at Camp Firhoun Ag Alinçar de Gao in the airport area taking place on September 8.
Also, Colonel-Major Souleymane DEMBELE will cite the complex attack of vehicle bombs, of several terrorists on board vehicles and motorcycles in the locality of Bourem, on September 12, 2023. Added to this is the aerial incident produced on September 9, 2023 north of Gao involving a Malian Air Force aircraft, the attack against an anti-terrorist force in Dialakoroba and that of the FAMa rights of way in Léré which occurred on September 17, 2023.
Once again, Colonel-Major DEMBELE recalled that the Malian Armed Forces invite everyone to be vigilant and exercise restraint against the attempts of propaganda, misinformation and disinformation whose sole aim is to sow chaos, hatred, division and desolation in our country.
Should we remember that this meeting aims to enlighten the press on the security situation for the month of September in the various theaters of operations and the activities carried out at the level of the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs and the General Staff of the Armed Forces. Anything that allows populations to have more visibility and readability so that they can support their Army which is working hard in carrying out assigned missions which are the protection of people and their property, above all the safeguarding of the integrity of the national territory.
